Garwood-Westfield Police DWI Checkpoint Leads to Five Arrests

The following arrest information was provided by the Garwood Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

On March 16 into the early morning hours of March 17, a DWI (driving while intoxicated) checkpoint was conducted on South Avenue at the border between Garwood and Westfield. Westfield Police Chief David Wayman states that with the approval of Garwood Police Chief Bruce Underhill the checkpoint was conducted as a joint agency operation.

The checkpoint resulted in the arrest of five individuals; two were arrested for DWI, they were Marlene Andrews, age 49 of Roselle and Mark Boyle, age 26 of Westfield.

Three were also arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance: Allington Stevens, age 42 of Piscataway (additionally charged as an unlicensed driver), Christian Landry, age 19 of Westfield and Chad Johnson, age 29 of Piscataway.

Chief Wayman praisies the efforts put forth by the members of the Westfield and Garwood Police Departments in conducting this DWI checkpoint and working together to keep the roadways of both communities safe.
