Clark Quick Chek Employee Allegedly Stole $5K From Register

Coleen Smith, 19, of Cranford allegedly stole the money while working as a cashier at the store last year, between Oct. 23 and Nov. 26.

A Cranford girl who worked at a Clark Quick Chek was charged with stealing $5,389 from a register, according to a police report.

Coleen Smith, 19, of Cranford allegedly stole the money while working as a cashier at the store last year, between Oct. 23 and Nov. 26.

Smith, a Retford Avenue resident, was reported to police by store personnel. She worked at the store on Westfield Avenue where Quick Chek manager Tracy Alexander and loss prevention representative John Brower reported the alleged theft to police on Nov. 28.

Det. Kevin Shackelton of the Clark Police Department arrested Smith and she was later released from custody pending a court date. She was scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 7.
