Clark FD Responds to Electrical Fire on Runnymede Road

An electrical fire started in the basement of the home.

The Clark Volunteer Fire Department responded to a small electrical fire around 11 a.m. today at 44 Runnymede Road. The fire began while a contractor was doing electrical work replacing a breaker in the basement of the home.

According to Deputy Chief Chris Matthews, the fire had been put out by the contractor with a fire extinguisher when Clark FD arrived.

The call came into the department as a reported smoke condition and updated to a dryer fire while crews were in route, though the cause was actually electrical. According to Matthews, when the department arrived there was a heavy smoke condition in the basement. Matthews says crews found further extension of the fire to the walls and cabinets in the basement. They removed the dryer and ventilated the home.
