The Clark Fire Department, with assistance from Rahway, extinguished a fire on on McCollum Drive Wednesday afternoon.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Frank Cerasa, the fire began in a second floor bedroom of the home around 3 p.m.
"The resident who was home at the time called it in," said Cerasa. "He was unharmed."
Cerasa said the department stretched several hose lines to extinguish the fire, which also had begun to "self-ventilate" through a second-floor window when crews arrived.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time, said Cerasa.
