BRIEF: Union County Parkway Closed Due to Flooding, Power Out on Linda Lane

A power line fire is the culprit on Linda Lane.

Tonight's weather has caused significant flooding along the Union County Parkway off of Valley Road and a power line fire nearby on Linda Lane.

Police have closed off Union County Parkway because of the flooding. The water around 10:30 p.m. had risen to almost a foot in the middle of the road between Valley Road in Clark and Stiles Street in Linden.

At around the same time the Clark Fire Department responded to a power line fire on Linda Lane. Clark FD provided lighting while PSE&G cut off power to the line, extinguishing the fire, according the Fire Captain Matt Hampp.

"It wasn't a big deal," said Hampp, "though residents on that block will be without power for a short period of time while PSE&G repairs the line."

Hampp said PSE&G did not give an estimate for when power would be restored.
