BRIEF: Lake Avenue Reopens After Downed Power Lines

Rain may have caused heavy branches to weigh down the lines.

Lake Avenue reoponed around 5 p.m. after downed power lines in the street caused police to close it off from Oak Ridge Road to Raritan Road near Rotondos Deli at around 4:15 p.m.

According to Clark Police Captain Alan Scherb who was on site PSE&G arrived quickly and was able to turn off the power, repair the lines and restore power within the hour. Two Clark fire engines and several officers were at the scene.

The closure caused some traffic backups along Raritan Road and Lake Avenue. It is now open.
