BRIEF: Lake Avenue Reopens After Downed Power Lines

Rain may have caused heavy branches to weigh down the lines.

Lake Avenue reoponed around 5 p.m. after downed power lines in the street caused police to close it off from Oak Ridge Road to Raritan Road near Rotondos Deli at around 4:15 p.m.

According to Clark Police Captain Alan Scherb who was on site PSE&G arrived quickly and was able to turn off the power, repair the lines and restore power within the hour. Two Clark fire engines and several officers were at the scene.

The closure caused some traffic backups along Raritan Road and Lake Avenue. It is now open.

I know it's not technically Clark but the construction project on Lake Ave by the Parkway underpass is the most frustrating and insulting thing imaginable. It takes close to 50 minutes for my girlfriend to get six miles to work in the morning because of it, it has been going on for over a month and they've put in some curbs and pipes... When the road is re-opened at the end of the work day and the weekend, the road is near un-drive-able and dangerous. It's needed to be paved for YEARS. The starting point of the detour is changed constantly. Last week, when driving from Clark to Woodbridge, I got lost in the Colonia neighborhood and made a large circle three times and just got frustrated and drove back into Clark, over to Westfield Ave, and down to St George's Ave. It's hard to avoid because Inman Ave and Westfield Ave are so out of the way in each direction.... //End Rant.
