Attempted Break-In Near Cranford-Garwood Border

The suspect is believed to be a white male, approximately six feet tall and in his early twenties.

Cranford Police are looking for a suspect in an attempted break-in that occurred on Wednesday morning. A resident of Arnet Place saw a tall, white male with spiky brown hair wearing a blue and white striped shirt attempt to force entry through the window of a neighboring residence. The suspect fled the scene on foot before Cranford Police arrived. The suspect is believed to be approximately six feet tall and in his early twenties.

Cranford Police stated that the Union County K-9 Tracking Unit was called in, but the dogs lost the suspect's scent approximately four blocks from the scene. It is believed the suspect fled south on Orchard Street towards Ramsgate Road, possibly entering a waiting vehicle. The Garwood Police Department was alerted, and Cranford Police are currently looking for more information regarding the break in. Police do not believe this incident to be related to the two previous township burglaries this week. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Ryan Greco at 908-709-7339.
