UPDATE: Police Searching for Two Old Bridge Girls Abducted by Father, Investigating Mother's Death

Police are looking for Anthony Trapp, who abducted his two young daughters, and who is wanted for questioning in the death of his ex-wife.

UPDATED STORY, 3 a.m.:

Police are asking motorists to be on the lookout for an Old Bridge man who is wanted for questioning in the death of his ex-wife and for the abduction of both of the couple's little girls.

Anthony Trapp, 39, of Rose Lane fled with his two young daughters in a 2011 red Nissan Rogue on Tuesday at approximately 4:30 pm. The license plate number for the four-door SUV is C59BPB.

The incident begun in Old Bridge, according to police, when Trapp abducted his daughters and disappeared. 

An Amber Alert for the two girls was issued by NJ State Police, based on information provided by the Old Bridge Police, at 1 am on Friday. Police have no information about what direction Trapp may have been heading.

Trapp is also a suspect in the alleged death of his ex-wife, according to NJ State Police Sgt. Anthony Gray. No further information was available at press time. 

The missing girls are Sophia Trapp, a white 20-month-old child, 2 feet tall, weighing 20 lbs. She has brown hair and blue eyes. Sophia was diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome, a disease of the connective tissue that can wreak havoc with vital organs, including the heart.

Anthony Trapp is a counselor for a state chapter of the National Marfan Foundation.

Sophia's sister, Emma Trapp, is five years old. She is white, 3 ft. 5 in. tall, weighs 40 lbs., and has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anthony Trapp is a white male, 6 ft. 4 in. tall, weighs 210 lbs, and has brown hair and brown eyes. 

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Trapp or the two girls should immediately call 911, police said.

 

ORIGINAL STORY, 2 a.m.:

The New Jersey State Police activated an Amber Alert shortly after midnight on Friday for a 20-month-old believed to have been abducted by her father.

The Old Bridge Police Department is investigating the alleged child abduction, which authorities say took place in Old Bridge on Thursday, Dec. 15 at 4:30 p.m.

The toddler, Sophia Trapp, is white with blue eyes and brown hair, according to the alert. She is 2 feet tall and weighs 20 pounds.

Her father, Anthony Trapp, is a 39-year-old with brown eyes and brown hair, according to the alert. He is 6 feet 4 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. Authorities say Sophia Trapp was last seen at her father’s residence at 10 Rose Lane in Old Bridge.

Anthony Trapp may be driving a 2011 red Nissan Rogue with New Jersey license plate C59BPB.

Old Bridge Police could not be reached for comment at this time.
