Kumpf Student Wins NJDEP Poetry Contest

Heaning's poem was about the importance of recycling and its impact on our environment.

Erin Heaning, a seventh grader, at Carl H. Kumpf Middle School in Clark won a poetry contest sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Recycling & Planning. 

Heaning will be honored at an awards ceremony on Oct. 16 at Jumping Brook Country Club in Neptune.

“Erin’s poem was very well-written and clearly communicated an essential message about recycling," said Christine Casale, Heaning's teacher. "Our school is extremely proud of her achievement.”
