Clark Man Beats Addiction, Shares Journey in Book

Patch readers told us who the "Everyday Inspirations" in their communities are, and we're sharing their stories and the work they've done locally.

Everyday Inspirations is a series that features people in Patch communities who inspire others through their work, or people who have faced extraordinary situations and grown from them. They have been featured by other people in the community that have been inspired by the nominees.

Name: Michael Cupo
Town: Clark, NJ

Why is this person an "Everyday Inspiration?"
I've written a book titled "It's Monday Only in Your Mind: You Are Not Your Thoughts." I write an article on real life situations with real solutions every day and I post them on numerous sites on the internet, one being Facebook.

It has amassed thousands of followers and it is growing. Here is the book's website so you can check it out for yourself. But this isn't about promoting my book, its the message that I share. It is reaching many people each day and that is what my focus is.

Has the nominee's life been changed in an extraordinary way?

Michael Cupo thought he had everything he’d always wanted: a beautiful wife, two wonderful children, a nice house and a great job. By all outward appearances, he’d made it. He should have been one very happy person.

But Michael felt he was not good enough, ever since he was a child, and as an adult, he found himself addicted to drugs, alcohol, and gambling—and his behavior was killing him and harming those he loved.

In this inspirational book, Michael shares the story of his journey of inner discoveries —with all its false starts, roadblocks, relapsing, and ultimately, an overwhelmingly uplifting state of surrender, acceptance, grace, and personal peace.

How does this person work to make others' lives better?

This is a true story that can be a benefit to many people, and there is a need for this to be told. I have found a real practical solution too many of the problems that plague each and every one of us, everyday of our lives. It is not a magical solution, but one based in the practicality derived from my experience of living in the only place that truly exists; the Here and Now.

If you look on my website and read my articles you will see the value of them for yourself, but I am just the instrument in all of this. What happened to me is real, but it didn't happen because of what I did. It was Universal Love that transformed my life and in the process I am able to assist others in their journey of life.
