Counting Our Blessings

2013 has been a most interesting year, amazing that it has passed so quickly. For some, this has been a blessing in its own right--starting the year off with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy and the tragedy at Newtown, then the ever-present turmoil in Washington, including apprehension regarding the Affordable Care Act.  Closer to home, there have been more than enough heartaches, as we lost a few of our favorite and long-time patients.  Members of our office staff have lost loved ones as well.

As life tends to balance things out over time, there have been many blessings to be had as well.  Good news from good friends, new homes, graduations, new freinds in our practice, more ways found to help more patients.  Nothing more important than good health of friends and family members.

The biggest blessing for me this year was saved for the end, as my oldest daughter Jennifer and her husband Ben presented us this past week with my first grandchild, Maggie.

This little cutie graced our presence on December 23--8 lbs, 5 oz. of delicious. Healthy, happy and with perfect feet (I checked).  It is definitely a different feeling becoming a grandfather, although it is difficult to put my finger on exactly what that is.  How can you NOT fall in love with such a precious little angel the minute you lay eyes on her?  This lucky little lady has plenty of peole around to love her--aunts, uncles, cousins, great aunts, great uncles, grandparents and great-grandparents, not to mention her wonderful mom and dad.

There's so much in the way of good thing to anticipate in 2014.  Graduations, vacations, milestone birthdays and hopefully more. We also have plans in the coming days, weeks and months to unveil new services to help our patients look better and feel better, to prevent and treat problems to keep them walking.

Let's look for the 2014 to bring everybody  more happiness than heartaches.  Here's to a year full of good things good health, along with more blessing than you could possibly count.
