Salvatore Chiarelli to Perform at Garwood Library
Salvatore Chiarelli, will return to the Garwood Public Library
for a musical encore on Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00 PM.
A native of New York City, Mr. Chiarelli was vocally trained in
both Italy and New York City for the opera stage. Mr. Chiarelli
has been heard on television and radio as well as on the opera
stages of both North America and Europe. In addition, he has
performed as a soloist on satellite television, reaching seventy
five countries around the world. At the very outset of his vocal
training, this tenor won an audition in Manhattan to be a soloist
for a five-week concert tour of Italy.
In 2006, Mr. Chiarelli recorded his first CD entitled “ Due Terre, Un Cuore”,
which include fifteen tracks of opera, Neapolitan songs, and musical theater. In
January of 2011, Mr. Chiarelli has completed the recording of his second CD.
He was a finalist in the New York State regional singing competition in 2006 and
2007 and was a recipient of the 2008-2009 Distinguished Artist Award from the
Town of Oyster Bay, Long Island. In September of 2008 he had an award winning
performance at Hofstra University.
In the last 5 years, Mr.Chiarelli has performed in over 200 concerts and shows in
more than 150 town and cities in the N.Y. Metro -Tri State area.
During this time period Mr. Chiarelli has sung for over 20,000 fans, singing to
capacity - sold out – standing room only crowds wherever he performs.
Some of the venues include: concert halls, theaters, auditoriums, cable T.V.,
playhouses, catering halls, country clubs, restaurants, churches, synagogues,
colleges, universities, schools, cultural centers, community centers, private
communities, civic organizations, libraries, parks, outdoor festivals and stadiums.
In 2008, Mr.Chiarelli performed the lead role of Turridu in the opera Cavalleria
Rusticana with Brooklyn Repertory Opera. With overwhelmingly positive reviews,
Salvatore gave a repeated performance with The West Side Opera in Manhattan.
Because of his success with Turridu, Mr. Chiarelli was offered the role of Canio in
the Capital Opera’s production of I, Pagliacci treating the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
audience to, as a reviewer wrote- “ a truly splendid evening of Leoncavallo”. He
is currently learning the principal roles from the opera Tosca, Andrea Chenier,
Otello, Manon Lescaut and Turandot.
Mr. Chiarelli received his Masters Degree in Music Education with honors at
Hunter College and passed the NYS Teachers Exam. He has taught music in the
New York City Public School System at the middle and high school levels and is
currently studying voice with the acclaimed and world renowned William Glazier in
