Paterson Thanks Garwood Voters, Asks for Compromise from Council

Paterson asks for 'common sense, debate and compromise to better the quality of life' from the new council.

This letter to the editor was received from Garwood Council Candidate Bruce Paterson.

Dear editor:

Although I was not listed on the formal ballot and ran only a write in campaign 5 weeks before the GW council election, I graciously thank the voters for understanding the issue I ran on and choosing to take on the effort to vote for me in that light.

Unfortunately, the write-in vote procedure on the voting machine creates much frustration. Moving forward for at least the next three years, we Garwood residents hope that each member of Garwood’s governing body continue to use common sense, debate and can compromise to better the quality of life for us.

I wish incumbent Jim Mathieu and newly elected councilor Mike Martin good luck. I thank the Pointe association for inviting me to the council debate; my wife who puts up with the politics; and all the involved residents, volunteers that work toward the betterment of Garwood.

-Bruce Paterson
