What's Open, What's Closed on Labor Day

Planning for Labor Day? Patch has you covered with holiday closings.

This Monday, Sept. 3, is Labor Day, which is observed as both a state and federal holiday and celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers (thank you, Wikipedia!).

This holiday marks the end of summer season and signals back to school for most area children.

Meanwhile, most state, municipal and federal institutions will be closed, and public transportation will run on an irregular schedule.

State and local government offices, including courts, will be closed.

Banks will be closed. Stock and financial markets will also be closed.

Schools will be closed.

All NJ Transit trains, Light Rail trains, and bus routes will follow a weekend/major holiday schedule instead of the normal weekday schedule. For the complete schedule, refer to timetables or click here.

PATH trains will operate on a Saturday schedule.
