If You're Planning a Trip to Disney, Get the Inside Info Right Here

From hotels to dining, our author has "been there" and "done that" many times over.

So, to all of you families out there who want to go on the ultimate fun, jam-packed (but thoroughly exhausting) vacation -- then the Walt Disney World Resort is the right place to go.

I’d like to offer you all of the fun things to do and some insider tips to make your vacation the most magical one yet.

Now you may be thinking, “Why should we listen to this young writer who’s just getting started?”

Well, I’ll give you one reason (or maybe two or three): I have been a Disney freak, as I like to call it, for as long as I can remember (my parents even have me singing Disney songs on video tape to prove it). I’m even listening to my Disney playlist as I type this right now.

That’s not convincing enough? I can do even better. For the past nine months I’ve worked at Epcot at The Walt Disney World Resort as an Attractions Hostess for the Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure. Since most guests thought we were just people standing there for information, needless to say, I consider myself to know pretty much everything about the resort, especially Epcot.

I should also probably mention that working at Walt Disney World has been the best experience of my life, and I can’t wait to go back. And if you have any questions at all, I’d be happy to answer them for you the best way that I can.

Let’s get started with some basics. Here's five things you need to know before you go:

1. Resorts: At certain times of the year, Disney offers up to 40% off at select resorts (also depending on the number of people in your party). To see their special offers, go to their website http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/ for details.

Don’t forget! There are different types of Disney resorts, including deluxe villas, deluxe, moderate and value resorts, plus a campground. Whether you’re looking for luxury or a more budget frie

ndly place to stay, Walt Disney World has it all to make your stay magical.

2. Tickets: There’s no doubt about it. Tickets are always going to be expensive, but if you are planning to spend most of your time at the Walt Disney Resort alone, you can get a multi-day ticket. Let’s put it this way -- the more days you play, the less you pay per day.

If one park per day isn’t enough think about the park hopper pass. It allows you to visit as many of the theme parks as you want in one day. Although this ticket is more expensive, sometimes, it can be worth it depending on what you plan on doing in each park.

3. Transportation: If you’re flying down to Orlando and don’t want to rent a car, The Walt Disney World Resort has transportation available to all guests staying on property (at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel). Their transportation can get you to anywhere you’d like to go within Walt Disney World.

Now if you plan on going to Universal, Sea World or you’d just like to explore Orlando more, I’d recommend renting a car. Depending on the type you rent, it may not be to expensive. If you take taxis from the resorts, it can definitely add up.

4. Dining: Walt Disney World Resort hotel guests have the opportunity to participate in the Disney Dining Plan. There are three different types of dining plans. How it works is that you pay a certain amount per person, per day, and depending on which plan you get determines the price per day.

Some of the different plans include a table service meal, quick service meal, and snacks. To see the different options available and more details, visit the link above.

5. Shopping: In addition to all of the shops located throughout the theme parks and hotels that offer an extremely wide variety of merchandise, the Downtown Disney area is a favorite for a diverse and exciting shopping experience.
