Library Assistant-Clark, NJ

Clark Public Library, 303 Westfield Avenue, Clark NJ is hiring a part-time LIBRARY ASSISTANT. Applicant must be available to work various shifts, including evenings and at least one weekend rotation every 4 weeks. Hours total 12 per week. Must be available to work a 4 hour shift between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Hours will vary when weekend shift occurs. Employees are entitled to sick leave. Starting salary for position is $15.68 per hour. This position is Civil Service/Union.

General Summary:

· The Library Assistant performs general reception duties including fielding in-person and on the telephone informational and directional questions from patrons.
· Must be able to exercise judgment in public service situations and perform several jobs simultaneously.
· Performs procedures related to circulation of materials, including check in and out of library material, collection of fees and fines and registration of library members.
· Processes new library material and performs basic repairs to damaged library material.
· Works effectively and courteously with the general public and other employees.

Education, Experience, and Training:

· High School diploma or equivalent required.
· Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office products required. Keyboarding skill required.
· Phone and office work experience required. CPR training a plus.
