The Juice House Opens in Garwood

The new biz opened in early January in the former Coffee Beanery space.

Take a trainer turned raw foods expert, the old Coffee Beanery space and a fridge full of fruits and veggies and blend, and you'll get the Juice House – the newest biz to open on North Avenue in Garwood sells cold-pressed and fresh-squeezed juices, smoothies and quick, healthy eats.

Owner and Garwood native Arielle Cassidy says she got into raw foods after studying exercise physiology and nutrition in college and then working as a trainer.

"I've seen so many beneficial things come out of it," she says.

When it came to juicing, though, Cassidy wasn't a fan – at first. But after research and experimenting with a few recipes, she says she became more than a believer. With so many local gyms in the area and juicing become mainstream, Cassidy decided to start her own business.

"The idea is to provide a place where customers can walk in and not have to think twice about what they're ordering," she says.

Now she spends her days researching recipes, and the Juice House offers more than a dozen options, from the basic "green juice" to sweeter choices. One of Cassidy's favorites is her "Buzz to the Beet" – a cold-pressed beet juice with bee pollen.

"Bee pollen has 96 nutritious values, boosts metabolism, and provides essential amino acids and proteins," says Cassidy, who explains the thought behind each blend with ease. "I really want people to know my understanding for how foods and the body work hand-in-hand."

Cassidy hopes to establish weekly forums, too, where guests can chat and she can dish out some nutritional advice. (She has certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine in personal training, nutrition and performance enhancement.)

But it's not just the gym crowd Cassidy hopes will find a home at the Juice House.

"I have options for people who have never touched anything healthy before," says Cassidy. "I want them to say, 'Wow, I can see myself eating this, and give an option of being realistic and eating normally, rather than go to extreme diets. I want people to come in here and learn something, and feel motivated and positive about a good lifestyle."
