On Thursday evening, June 7, 2012, at 6pm, Temple Beth O’r/ Beth Torah of Clark will have the distinct privilege of presenting its L’Chaim To Life Award to Dr. Margaret McMenamin, President of Union County College, and Dr. Sanford and Mrs. Arlene Fineman, founders of the “Yes, We Care Soup Kitchen.”
Dr. McMenamin, a distinguished academician, is assisting Union County College in transforming its role from a local community college to a leader in 21st century academic excellence. Union County College offers classes in Elizabeth, Cranford, and Plainfield. Dr. McMenamin is dedicated in her pursuit to continue to offer academic and vocational opportunities to the local community, “I am humbled by this recognition and thank everyone involved for their support.”
Dr. Sanford and Arlene Fineman have been institutions in the Union County medical community for over a quarter of a century, are lifelong congregants of Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah, and are also serious about giving back to the Union County community. They have worked with dozens of volunteers as they have served thousands of meals to in-need Union County residents. Temple Beth O’r/Beth Torah co-President Lillian Makow knows the Finemans well, "Our Temple Beth O'r/Beth Torah family is devoted to the principle of Tikun Olam, repairing the world, as are Dr. McMenamin and Dr. and Mrs. Fineman. It is only fitting that we honor these exemplary people at our first L'Chaim To Life Award Dinner." The Finemans countered, “We are very honored to be chosen by our fellow congregants to be the recipients of the prestigious L’Chaim Award.”
