And the Winner is...Schwartz & Schwartz

Taxes. It's a dirty word to most, especially at this time of year.

With a commanding 734 votes out of 1242 cast (59 percent of the total votes), Schwartz & Schwartz on Raritan Road was the top pick. In the number two spot, also receiving a significant number of votes (39 percent), was Hunrath, Napolitano, Quigley & Taylor on Central Avenue.

Father and son team David and Craig Schwartz gave Patch some insight on why they've got such loyal clients.

"We always try to go the extra step for them and we treat each client as if we’re doing our only family's business," says David. "We want to help and do the right thing for them so they'll be no problems for them down the road."

Schwartz and Schwartz has been in Clark since 1996 and in business since 1960. David is a public accountant and Craig is a CPA with his Master's Degree in Taxation from Rutgers. They work with everyone from individuals to corporations, partnerships, small family businesses, LLCs and several non-profits. David, who is now retired but still assists with the business, has worked through a whopping 52 tax seasons.

The Schwartzes say being punctual, efficient and thorough are cornerstones of their business. "We are very prompt in interviews and we don’t keep people waiting," says Craig. "Plus, when we see them we are always prepared ahead of time."

And so their clients keep coming back. "We have have clients who have been with us for 50 years," says David. "We see fourth-generations of some of those clients."
