The Coffee Beanery beat out the competition in a close race with 42 percent of the vote. The number two and three picks were (36 percent) and (18 percent).

Owner Victoria Bogatoff says it's quality that sets her coffee apart.

"We use the best of the best coffee beans," says Bogatoff. "Coffee Beanery sources their beans from the top seven percent of beans in the world."

Bogatoff chose the Michigan-based franchise over other coffee shop chains after sampling the brews. "Coffee Beanery's coffee tasted the best," she says.

Bogatoff says caramel is her customers' favorite flavor, followed by English toffee, creme brulee and French vanilla, but the Coffee Beanery brand offers a whole array of blends including exotic options like Hawaiian coconut and Michigan cherry. The Beanery also has a full line of espresso-based drinks, frappalattes, and special original drinks like the salted caramel hot chocolate and peppermint mocha.

"I call this my satellite office," says regular customer and Garwood resident Sylvia Martinez, who works from home. "It's really good coffee and you can't beat the price. A small cup is less than $2. It's nice and quiet, and the food is good, too – especially the ." Martinez's favorite flavors are hazelnut and French toast.

Martinez says service with a smile is standard at Coffee Beanery.

"You can tell Victoria builds great rapport with her customers," says Martinez. "She greets people by name and they greet her by name."

"I like to have a family atmosphere here," says Bogatoff, who is at the helm six days a week.

The Beanery supports other Garwood businesses and often hosts parties, celebrations and business events. Once a month, students from Garwood's RMC Studios music school perform in the shop.
