Crossroads, Garwood's venerable music spot, will host a Hurricane Sandy benefit-concert on Friday December 7th.

Guitarist Mark Karan, formerly of Grateful Dead alumni project The Other Ones and Bob Weir's Ratdog, will headline with his band.

Composer/bassist Joe Gallant, whose 18-piece Illuminati Orchestra performs jazz arrangements of Grateful Dead music, will present his small-band project, Glowing Skull Ring.

Juggling Suns, one of the tristate area's premiere Dead-inspired jambands, will also perform. Doors open at 6:30pm.

The event is organized by Charlene Raco, founder of Charl's Handijam for Handicapped Inc.

"This show will help continue to provide badly needed assistance to the residents along the coast who lost so much to Hurricane Sandy", Raco said.
"It's really still a survival, day-to-day situation in several areas that were devastated. Emergency housing and cleanup efforts have been ongoing,
people are stepping up everywhere to help, and all assistance is appreciated".

"Crossroads has been great with their enthusiasm for this benefit, and we hope that every Deadhead, jamband fan and music lover in Union County
will help us pack the place on Friday December 7th" enthused Gallant.

Tickets are $25 at the door or $20 in advance at xxroads.com. Drop boxes will be provided for donations of canned goods, sanitary and cleaning supplies, paper towels, hand tools, sheets and blankets, etc. All such donations are greatly appreciated.
