What Changes Would You Like to See in Clark, Garwood in 2014?

What's on your wish list for Clark and Garwood?

With the arrival of a new year, Patch wants to know: What resolutions would you make for Clark and Garwood in 2014? What issues will you be paying attention to in the coming year?

In Clark, 2014 will see more development on the new Clark Commons shopping complex, approved this year, and the major roadway changes that come along with it. Across town, construction is underway for townhouses on the former Mieles's property. Also coming in 2014, on Jan. 6, alleged killer Kai the Hitchhiker will have his first court appearance. Another issue to watch is the tense teacher contract negotiations between Clark teachers and the Board of Education. Clark also saw two big business changes – Oh Brian's on the Green in the former Senorita's space and Manny's Diner where Johnny K's (and formerly the Windsor Diner) once was.

In Garwood, the years-in-the-making Athletic Field Complex will (hopefully) come to fruition in the spring. In the meantime, construction is already underway for senior housing at the former St. Anne's School. Will 2014 bring some more new development to the borough? Mayor Quattrocchi and several council members have been pushing for change along North and South avenues. Garwood will also see a new council, with Republican Mike Martin earning a seat in this year's election. Martin will be sworn in, along with incumbent Republican Jim Mathieu, at the borough's reorganization meeting on Sunday, Jan. 5.
