Section of Raritan Road Will Soon Close for Pipeline Repairs

Raritan Road will be closed between Rahway Road and Overlook Way beginning Feb. 10.

Traffic will be diverted away from a section of Raritan Road in Scotch Plains for construction related to a water pipeline replacement project beginning Monday, February 10 and continuing through April. 

The road will be closed to traffic between Rahway Road and Overlook Way. Traffic will be detoured to Cooper Road.  

The closure for a water pipeline replacement project that will replace about 2,000 feet of 48-inch New Jersey American Water main.

Work will continue from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Depending on progress, temporary road restoration work will be completed by May 1, the water company said.

Although there are no disruptions to your water service expected as a result of the work, NJAW says that customers may experience a slight discoloration of the water when the new pipeline is placed into service.

"If this happens, run your water until it clears up," the company said in an announcement. "If the problem persists please call customer service at the number provided."
