Hehnly K-Kids Service Club Helps Sandy Victims, Will Hold 'JOY' Social Dec. 12

The service group is part of the Kiwanis organization and is made up of third, fourth and fifth graders.

This release was submitted by the Hehnly K-Kids organization.

Hehnly K-Kids is a service club as part of the Kiwanis organization. We are in our 3rd year with 91 members of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. We meet 1-2 times per month and focus on our service project.

October- Despite the effects we endured from Hurricane Sandy, school being closed and Halloween rescheduled, we collected $471.00 for Unicef. November- We donated 20 turkeys to the Clark Give and Share Program.

December-We are supporting Operation Reach the Beach, Kids helping Kids. We are collecting new baby items (diapers, bath essentials, formula),school supplies, and new toys. These items have been picked up and delivered to Union Beach and further south. The reciepients are extremely grateful to the generous donations they have received from Hehnly School.

On December 12, we will celebrate our 3rd annual "JOY" Social (joining older & younger). Each K-Kid invites a special guest, a grandparent, senior citizen or neighbor and we enjoy an afternoon playing Bingo and enjoying refreshments.

As a special project, I have asked every member of K-Kids to prepare a special bag to be hand delivered to a child affected by the Storm. They are to decorate the outside of the lunch bag for winter holidays and fill it with sm. items for a child, small toys, hats, gloves, socks, candy, etc and to include a $10 gift card for Target, Walmart or Toys R Us.

We hope to brighten the lives of many children with a special treat from Hehnly K-Kids. The Hehnly staff is also supporting our project. We wish everyone a Happy, Healthy Holiday Season. Donna Kircher- Hehnly School K-Kids Advisor
