Garwood Library Will Offer Patrons Blind Dates...With Books

To celebrate Valentine’s Day and Library Lover’s Month, adult patrons may check out a “blind date”, a wrapped book to take home and enjoy, during the weeks of February 18th through March 1st.  There are a few simple rules:  You can’t open the package until you get home…you must promise to read at least the first 50 pages…you must complete the brief “review form” indicating whether you did or did not like the book and why.   That’s it…if you don’t like the book after the first 50 pages, just return it and choose another if you’d like to “date” again. All participants who turn in a review in this “dating” event will have their name entered into a random drawing for a prize to be drawn at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 15th.

Since February is “Library Lover’s Month”, the staff at the Library thought this would be an interesting way to introduce readers to some books and new authors that they might not otherwise choose for themselves, and expose them to different genres, period pieces, and some non-fiction.  It’s all for fun with a measure of mystery and excitement thrown in, just like a real blind date!

The Garwood Library, located at the corner of Walnut Street and Third Avenue,  is open Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Fridays, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.  The library will be closed on Monday, February 18th in observance of President’s Day.  For further information, the library pone number is 908-789-1670.
