HELPING YOU LIVE BETTER IN THE FALL…FANWOOD-SCOTCH PLAINS YMCA HOSTS PROGRAM REGISTRATION

The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA is pleased to announce registration for the Fall Session begins on August 17th.   Fall Session runs September 9th-November 17th.  A variety of membership options allows seniors, adults and children to participate in programs and classes which were designed for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  

Youth classes include Youth All Sports, Youth Gymnastics, Tennis, Yoga, Dance, Flag Football, Soccer, Kindergarten Basketball, Youth Basketball League and Travel Basketball. Teens are invited to stay in shape with Teen Capoeira, Tween/Teen Cycle, Club Cross Fit/Tween/Teen Tri Club, Tween Dance, Tween Zumba, Tween/Teen Yoga, Progressive Skills Gymnastics, Wellness Center weight training and Tae Kwon Do.  

Parent/toddler gymnastics classes are designed for parents and their children who are walking through 3 ½ years old. The progressive preschool program for three to five year olds uses gymnastics and a positive attitude to promote self-esteem. Grades 1-12, the progressive skills program teaches skills on all four events of women’s gymnastics in a safe environment.  

Preschool and youth swim lessons for ages 3 to 14 years feature a progressive skills format, with an emphasis on stroke development and personal safety. Parent/child lessons for ages 6 months to 3 years, as well as adult lessons are also offered. Masters Swim Team Membership for anyone 19 years and up who wants to improve his or her swimming experience.

In addition to a Wellness Center that offers cardio and strength training machines, there are over 150 adult fitness classes to choose from that are held during day and evening hours for all levels, with some programs specifically designed to meet the needs of senior adults. Adult aquatics classes allow participants to improve their fitness level while reducing stress on joints. There is TRX Group Personal Training, Core Roller Small Group Personal Training and a rehabilitation program for breast cancer survivors called “Moving On” and “LIVESTRONG at the Y,” a FREE wellness initiative for cancer survivors and their support team.  New this fall is a Diabetes Education/Exercise Series and Nutrition Series and Stewards of Children Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Training.
