Metuchen Savings Bank has been unlocking the doors to the mysteries of the mortgage process for 116 years and, unlike many other lenders, all lending decisions are still made locally.   Because interest rates remain at an all-time low and housing prices reflect a buyer’s market, now may be an opportune time for homeowners to make great deals, according to Mr. Totten.  He added, “Mortgage money is available to qualified homeowners who can demonstrate their ability and willingness to repay. Metuchen Savings Bank offers a vast array of mortgage products, and adds an experienced staff available not only to answer your questions, but also to process your mortgage application in an efficient and timely manner.  I encourage anyone interested in learning more to attend this valuable forum on April 24th.”

The April 24th Economic Forum will focus on four specific areas, with additional time allotted for Q & A:

  • First Steps – Determine how much you can afford; shop for a loan; learn about home-buying programs; shop for a home; make an offer; home inspection; homeowners insurance.
  • Mortgage Pre-Qualification – Pre-registered participants will receive a FREE credit check.
  • Understanding Your Credit Scores — Know your credit score and what it means to banks, credit card companies and your future.
  • Discovering Down Payment Sources – Set a goal to save money each month and then adhere to it.  Prioritize your family’s spending needs so that saving becomes second nature.

The event, which is open to the public, will be at the Edison Branch YMCA Community Campus at 1775 Oak Tree Rd, Edison on Thursday, April 24, 2014. Complimentary refreshments will be served beginning at 5:30 pm. The program is FREE and will begin promptly at 6:00 pm.  Seating is limited and reservations are required.
