Alzheimer's/Dementia Caregiver Conference

The Caregiving Journey: Responding to the Needs of the Person with Alzheimer’s Disease

Caregivers of people with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia are presented with a rare opportunity to hear presentations from highly qualified professionals covering the immediate concerns of dealing with the person with dementia, navigating the health care system, and legal and financial considerations in the long term outlook of the disease.  The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater New Jersey Chapter – in conjunction with Union County Division on Aging, (ADRC) Aging and Disability Resource Connection, Essex County Department of Citizen Services Division on Aging and Union County College – will present a half-day conference on Saturday, November 2

The conference includes informational handouts and an exclusive resource listing for Union and Essex counties as well as a continental breakfast and exhibitor resource tables in addition to featured speakers.  There is NO FEE for attending.  Those interested in attending must pre-register with the Alzheimer’s Association by calling 973.586.4300

Conference Details

The annual Union County conference, this year titled “The Caregiving Journey: Responding to the Needs of the Person with Alzheimer’s Disease”, will feature three presentations:

(1) “Living with Alzheimer's” by Theresa Redling, DO, FACP, Medical Director, Center for Geriatric Health and Disease Management, Saint Barnabas Medical Center

(2) “Navigating the Health Care System: Options that Work” by Pat Stelmach, RN, M.Ed, Care Navigator Guidance, Planning & Support Services, SAGE Eldercare

(3) “Looking Ahead: Legal and Financial Considerations” by Donald D. Vanarelli, Certified Elder Law Attorney

The conference will take place in Union County College’s Roy Smith Theatre at 1033 Springfield Avenue in Cranford, NJ  07016. FREE Adult Day Care services are also available; for complete details please call 973.586.4300.
