Garwood Council Candidates Debate, Breast Cancer Awareness Blood Drive Today

What's happening today in Clark and Garwood.

Garwood council candidates debate at the Pointe: All Garwood residents have been invited to attend a pre-election debate involving the three candidates for Borough Council and urged to suggest questions to be put to the participants. The event will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Pointe, the condominium complex between Maple and Chestnut Streets. Proposed questions may be sent in advance to PointeForum@gmail.com.

Clark rec director to be honored: Clark Rec Director and UNICO President Ralph Bernardo will be honored along with several others at An Evening of Thanks, the first annual Union County Family Service Awards at the Galloping Hill Golf Club in Kenilworth. The Thursday event will recognize and honor individuals from different communities in Union County who serve families in need in extraordinary ways in their civic and private lives.

Clark Girls Softball League opens fall registration: The Clark Girls Softball League is happy to announce fall registration for the 2014 season will be from 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday at the Brewer Recreational Center. The 2014 season is slated to begin in March and runs to early June. The league is open to all girls in grades pre-K through 8, who reside in Clark, Garwood and Winfield, or who attend private school in Clark. This year, the league will open registration to girls who are four years old. Girls must be four by October 1.

Breast cancer awareness blood drive: Donate to this Breast Cancer Awareness blood drive on Thursday at the Clark Volunteer Emergency Squad building from 1:30 - 7:30 p.m. Every donor will receive a pink blood drop pin, pink arm bandage & Super Community Blood Drive wristband.
