Singin' in the Rain 60th Anniversary Spectacular at Digiplex
Turner Classic Movies and Digiplex Destinations digital cinemas have collaborated to bring Connecticut and New Jersey audiences the Singin' in the Rain 60th Anniversary Event. One of American cinema's most iconic films returns to the big screen on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Digiplex Cranford Theater in New Jersey, Digiplex Rialto in Westfield, N.J., and Digiplex Bloomfield 8 in Bloomfield, Conn. Admission is $12.50. There will be an earlier 2 p.m. showing that day at Cranford and Bloomfield theaters only.
The event begins with TCM host Robert Osborne in an exclusive specially produced interview with star Debbie Reynolds. Audiences will be taken behind the scenes of one of the greatest musicals of all time as Ms. Reynolds shares memories of working in 1952 with the late, great Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor.
Singin' in the Rain graces the silver screen for only one night, and has been fully remastered to offer a higher definition picture and sound quality than ever before.
"This glorious classic film musical tells the story of a silent film production company and cast who make a difficult transition to sound," said A. Dale "Bud" Mayo, Digiplex Destinations chairman/CEO.
"Luckily, our transition to all digital HD was a lot easier than what stars faced when talking pictures first started in the 1920s. Our conversion to digital projection now allows us to offer this screening at the same time it's being shown in theaters nationwide."
The Digiplex Cranford Theater is located at 25 North Avenue, Cranford, N.J.; the Digiplex Rialto Theater is located at 250 East Broad Street in Westfield, N.J.;and the Digiplex Bloomfield 8 Theater is located at 863 Park Avenue (Wintonbury Mall), Bloomfield, Conn.
