The students were sponsored by Tom Pedas of Garwood, their private voice teacher, and were selected through competitive auditions held in January.
This release was submitted by Tom Pedas. Bobby Morris of Cranford, Tommy Meade of Clark and Conor Flood of Scotch Plains were selected for and participated in the Annual New Jersey Junior High All State Honor Choir Concert held at the J. P. Case Middle School in Flemington on May 4th. The students were sponsored by Tom Pedas of Garwood, their private voice teacher, and were selected through competitive auditions held in January. The junior high honor choir consists of students in grades seven to nine. According to Pedas “not only was Conor selected for this prestigious choir, but he also had the highest baritone score in the state and was selected to sing a solo in the Hebrew song Al Shlosha during the concert. An authentically restored elegant Queen Anne Victorian mansion located in Plainfield New Jersey’s Van Wyck Brooks Historic District and listed in the National Register of Historic Homes, is one of five notable homes to join the Friends of Westfield Symphony Orchestra’s annual tour to benefit the orchestra on Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The three-story, 7,500 square foot mansion, located in an area once known as “millionaire’s row” was designed in1893 by New York architect Charles H. Smith for the Honorable Craig Marsh, then serving as the city’s attorney. This release was received from the Union County Press Office. Residents of Union County who are 60 years of age or older are invited to participate and exhibit an original work of art – completed within the last three years – in the annual Union County Senior Citizens Art Exhibit. ALJ's spring musical didn't disappoint with a spirited production of the Broadway hit.
Arthur L. Johnson High School’s auditorium was filled with exuberant song, colorful costumes, imaginative sets and a cast of very talented student actors, dancers, singers and musicians as they brought the iconic musical, Godspell, to life onstage. Director Peter Navargic and Musical Director Rachel Bollaro continued their tradition of successful student productions of Broadway hit musicals at ALJ with this spring's musical, Godspell. Compared to prior years’ musicals, Godspell had a relatively small, but incredibly talented cast. Many of the student actors have appeared in previous plays and musicals at ALJ, and several are also involved in the vocal and instrumental music programs at ALJ.
