Clark Student Waiting for Bus Approached by Hispanic Male, Clark PD Investigating as 'Suspicious Incident'

Police have not deemed the incident "child luring," but are investigating.

Clark Police sent out a Nixle alert around 9 a.m. on Thursday alerting residents to a suspicious incident where a female Clark district student was approached by a hispanic male while waiting for her bus on Wednesday morning.

Clark Police Chief Alan Scherb said that the student was waiting for her bus near the Clark-Cranford border on Raritan Road around 7:40 a.m. and was approached by a hispanic male with facial hair in a white four-door vehicle. The student's parents reported the incident to police Wednesday night.

"The vehicle pulled up, a comment was made to the juvenile, and then the juvenile backed away," Scherb told Patch. "We are investigating this as a suspicious incident."

Scherb said police are not certain there was an intent to lure. Scherb asks anyone who sees anything suspicious to not hesitate and report any incidents to Clark PD immediately.

KJS: There was a previous story on the Nixle Alerts on the Patch. I tried to attach the link but it was rejected. Look under the "NEWS" section on the site toolbar, then click on "POLICE and FIRE". Scroll down thru the articles, the story is there.

There are two ways to register:

1. From any cell phone, text the zip code (07066) to 888777. In this way, you will receive text messages only.

2. Go to www.nixle.com and register. You must enter a valid email address with the option of entering a cell phone as well. If you choose this method, you will receive information via email and/or text message.
