Clark Residents Can Receive Emergency Updates Through Nixle
Read below for how to register for alerts.
This release was submitted by the Clark Police Department.
As you are aware, Hurricane Sandy devastated the State of New Jersey and left 76 percent of our residents without power for more than five days. During the storm, communicating with residents was extremely difficult.
In many cases, updates and information regarding storm damage was communicated on Facebook or by word of mouth.
In light of this, the Mayor and Town Council in conjunction with the Clark Police Department are proud to announce that effective November 30, 2012 the Township of Clark has registered with Nixle.
The Nixle System will forward emergency information either by text message or by email to residents who register for the service. This system is free of charge to the Township and residents.
The first Nixle Alert, sent out today, was as follows: "CPD: Featherbed lane from Raritan Rd to Victoria Dr will be closed the week of 12-3-12 from 7am to 4pm find alternate route."
There are two ways to register:
1. From any cell phone, text the zip code (07066) to 888777. In this way, you will receive text messages only.
2. Go to www.nixle.com and register. You must enter a valid email address with the option of entering a cell phone as well. If you choose this method, you will receive information via email and/or text message.
