Clark Police Chase Ends in Crash, Arrest of Three Teens in Stolen Vehicle
The teens crashed into a box truck in Rahway.
An afternoon police chase ended in a crash and three arrests around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to Clark Police Cpt. Al Scherb, the pursuit began after three 18-year-old Rahway teens driving a stolen Honda Accord from Newark refused to pull over when a Clark officer attempted to stop them. The chase ended when the driver struck a box truck near the intersection of Westfield and Jefferson avenues in Rahway. The truck flipped after impact.
The truck driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to Overlook Hospital. The three suspects (police have not yet released their names) were taken to Rahway Hospital for evaluation.
Scherb says the pursuit began near the Briarwood Apartments and continued down Lake Avenue before ending near Westfield Avenue.
Scherb say the officers involved were not injured, nor did their vehicles sustain any damage.
According to Scherb, after the suspects are discharged from the hospital they will be brought back to Clark Police headquarters for processing and then be moved to Union County Jail.
