Most criminals steal dough from a bank. This bandit helped himself to Bistro 1051's baguettes.
After thieves stole a dishwasher from the back of the restaurant and his morning bread delivery went missing twice in December, Bistro 1051 owner Michael Savvis decided to get tough. His newly installed security cameras caught a man swipe a $75 bag of bread from the front of his restaurant again in February.
"It’s a big inconvenience," says Savvis. "The bread comes from New York and you can’t get another delivery that same day."
Savvis handed over the video to Clark Police who are looking for a male suspect in a maroon Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
"It looks like he comes after stopping at Clark Bagel," says Clark Detective George Marmarou.
Perhaps the man has an addiction to carbs?
"The guys is real smooth in the way he does it," says Savvis. "He just walks up, grabs it and throws it in the back of his truck. Maybe it’s someone from another restaurant. I don’t know. We’re very shocked because it's broad daylight when he does it."
Savvis says DiCosmo’s, also located in the Clarkton Shopping Center, has had their bread delivery stolen before, too. Unfortunately, Savvis's surveillance tapes don't make clear the man's license plate.
So, Clark and Garwood, can you help catch the carb crook? Check out our video and photos, comment below and we'll forward leads to the Clark Police Department Detective Bureau.
