ALJ junior Kara Alongi, 16, tweeted "There is somone in my hour ecall 911" around 6 p.m. Sunday night and is now missing.
Clark Police are searching the area and talking to friends of Alongi but so far have not located her. A county canine unit has been called to assist in the search.
A friend of the family says her family was at her younger brother's sporting event at the time and Alongi was home alone.
Clark Police Chief Alan Scherb could not be reached by Patch at this time. We will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
UPDATE, 10:30 P.M: Alongi's family, friends and neighbors are camped outside her home while Clark PD and the Sheriff's Office photograph the home and the area. A Sheriff's Office canine unit is also at the home. Alongi's grandmother, Toni Alongi, describes her as respectful, sensitive, says it is not like her to run away.
UPDATE, 11:10 P.M.: Clark Police Chief Alan Scherb tells Patch: "We still don't know whether she ran away or if there was any foul play. There are no obvious signs of a break-in and the home was not ransacked. The door was open. Kara, if you see this, please contact your parents or Clark Police. You will not be in trouble. We are concerned for your safety."
Scherb says the canine unit picked up her scent and walked the neighborhood but was broken off after not finding a further trail.
Scherb would not confirm whether or not Alongi's phone was found in the home.
Scherb says the Sheriff's Department is photographing the area, as is procedure. Police are talking to Alongi's friends and investigating all leads. Those with any information should call Clark Police at 732-388-3434.

By tweeting, she got herself a lot of attention. Millions of people are now aware that something happened. Had she called 911 herself, the intruder might have heard her which would have put her in more immediate danger. If she wasn't able to speak with the 911 dispatcher, it could have been hours until they knew who made the call. I've called 911 from my cell phone and it was a pain. I had to tell someone in a call center where I was and they had to connect me to the local police department. It took several minutes. Fortunately my emergency was not at urgent as this girls.

if she was hiding from someone in her house like in a closet or under a bed you would think she tweeted to remain silent and not speak as to give away her hiding place. (from my perspective)

Robert, have you ever called 911? I'm thinking even if you haven't, you should still know that you can call 911, not say a word, and the police will come. We learned about this in the 1st grade. Why are teenagers and adults unaware of this?
micky
2:45 pm on Monday, October 1, 2012
Hananzy im a 911 operator and just letting you know if you are making that call from a cell phone they DO NOT have your exact adress just the nearest cell tower so good luck with that if you are ever in a life threatening situation. It could be a while before help arrives if your going to remain silent. Your first grade teacher should be fired if she said you can do that from a cellphone. Home phone lines provided they have the correct address listed with the service provider are the only time staying silent works my friend.

i doubt it was the boy. nothing he did was really extreme enough to point fingers at him for the crime... yet... it would be a good idea to interigate him. also, she shouldve reported him before hand, that the boy was being rather disagreeable with her, considering the time span between the day she tweeted about him and now, but my 2 cents. my prayers go out to her. god help her please.

It is rare for someone to break into a house and kidnap someone. Kidnappings are not typically random acts. If someone broke into the house, there should be evidence of such. Your everyday burglars don't go around kidnapping people. The timing is suspicious. 6pm on a Sunday evening? It's still light out and people are often home during that time. If she was in fact kidnapped it had to be premeditated as someone who broke into a home is more likely to run away if they realized someone was in the house. *IF* this be a hoax, the police must prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law and society must shame her.
Suzie
1:13 am on Monday, October 1, 2012
The person below named Robert, not ALL burglaries happen at night! My neighbor, when I lived in Parsippany, who was an old lady, her house was broken into at 3pm during the week! So don't say that they DON'T go into people's houses when its still day time because that is false. It happens all the time. Also, a burglary, kidnapping etc, can happen at ANY time or day! Maybe she knew the person who was at her door, and just took her. Who knows? Only she knows what happens.
Do you not own a TV? Do you not watch the news? Children and young girls DO get kidnapped from their homes a lot often than you think. They may not be brought to the news like this, but it does happen. It happens a lot. You need to get your facts straight. Just saying.

Suzie im with Robert on this one burglaries might happen during the day but only if the person is friends with or is close enough to the victim to know there schedule well enough to be sure the house is empty. Also kidnappings are NOT common of men or women that age in this area. Infants much more likely the more common theme in this area are home invasions and usually they just tie everyone inside up and run off with loot from the house. Finally who gives a poop that you have an old police chief that your chummy with since 03. #namedropper hopefully this is like most runaways and is all a bad joke but the police have to treat it like its real.

I doubt the boy is to blame, we all ha those highschool crushes where they dont leave you alone, but yes this girl is very mean, her tweets are not very nice and some of her pictures are kind of racist... How? By wrapping scarfs and other articles of clothing to make it look like a turban. I myself wear a turban and no we are not muslim we are east indian and she shouldnt be doing that or saying anything against fat or gay people also it is inapropriate. Even though she is awfully rude and racist... I still hope she gets home safe and sound. Praying for her.

micky- being insensitive and mocking someone's culture is racist and this is the type of situation someone who is still oppressed by modern culture has to navigate daily.
As someone who grew up in Clark this behavior is incredibly commonplace, and sees little to no repercussions. i have seen windows smashed, "faggot" spray painted, repeated use of the "n" work towards black students (and clicking as though to mimic tribe dialect) a lot of this behavior is perpetuated in Kara's other tweets. Nevertheless, I hope a safe return for her, and my heart goes out to her family and friends.

It's funny how a pretty white girl goes missing everyone seems to care.
2,300 people go missing in the US EVERY DAY. She's also very rude, but people only care about her and not the 2,299 others because she's pretty. Amazing.
Andi Dier
12:20 am on Monday, October 1, 2012
That isn't true. Everyone cares because it's on twitter, that's why. Most people on twitter are around her age. They're young. She seems like someone who they'd be friends with. But the big factor is that she tweeted it. It's almost like you're watching it. And people go, "Oh golly, I have a twitter too!" so it let's them relate to them. They feel closer to the story than if it was just on the news. That makes them care. Not because she's a pretty white girl. Maybe that's a small factor. But that's not the deciding one in this situation.

Its sad because she does seem like a very mean girl and its just funny how when people describe someone murdered or kidnapped they describe them as being "Nice, respectful, etc;" It means nothing. Nonetheless the girl doesnt deserve to be kidnapped and harmed. This is EXTREME karma at the worst and hopefully she will return home safely.
yhdyjdtj
12:09 am on Monday, October 1, 2012
Also she may not have called 911 because she didnt want to be heard incase she was hiding but she could've texted a relative or a friend individually instead of posting on twitter because people on twitter probably scrolled right past it thinking it was a joke because how often does someone tweet that theyre in danger. She also posted a picture from a while ago saying Help so maybe she was known to be "the girl who cried wolf" Unless she heard a noise and as a cruel joke posted it on twitter but then actually was kidnapped.who knows.

It was best that she tweeted, not called. On a cell phone it is difficult to locate exactly where you are based on phone towers. Word got out a lot faster by her tweeting. & she is a teen, we cuss. We are bitches, but her life doesn't need to be taken or people don't need to not care because she is mean or rude. You don't deserve to have your life taken from you because you're mean. I don't care who you are.

Everyone who is being mean about her, I hope karma comes around and gets you good. This obviously is serious. It does not matter if she is a mean person or not. Besides that, a person's personality should not be solely based on their tweets. God taught us to love and care for everyone. She is also SIXTEEN. By calling her names and saying that people shouldn't care makes you no better than the mean things she tweeted. Kara my prayers are with you.

I agree with you hun. Just because she wrote something on her tweets that doesn't sound nice doesn't mean she isn't a nice person. Sometimes girls have different ways of showing their emotions. I think she had some emotion issues and this is how she released her anger. I pray she is safe.

Okay honestly, who cares if she was a "bitch"? Nobody deserves to be kidnapped. Rude or not, that's not fair. And half of you people have no idea what you are even talking about. The picture she posted 16 days ago may be two girls, but just because they're girls why aren't you guys worrying about it? Can girls not kidnap other girls? It doesn't just have to be a guy. If you have nothing nice to say to about then why even comment? And even if she is faking it, there is no reason to dog on her. No one knows what happened to her or if she's doing this for attention. And even if she is, don't judge someone just because they sin differently than you.

I am honestly scared right now. Kara is about my age and if someone could get her, what makes me think someone can't get me? I really do hope that Kara is okay. Sure she said some bitchy stuff, but she is a human being. Everyone says things that r rude as hell, or at least think them. So I pray to God she is alright. If this is some sick prank though, I will be pissed. Also, they said there was no sign of a break in? Well, think of this...maybe her friends usually knock for her on her back door, she unlocked it through the closed blinds and then the person came it? Just a thought. And that Samuel guy sounds suspicious. And if it was a prank, do you really think that people would be camping on her lawn? I ran away once, and left a note. She does sound like she loves her family though so if she were to run away, she would leave a note. Also, she is a pretty white girl and I have noticed that when a not so pretty black girl is kidnapped, no one cares. So.....And i don't want her to die. Her family and friends may be reading this and they may be crying right now so....keep in mind that you would be sad if you were her friend. I pray she is safe and well and that she doesn't die. I'm guessing its either a prank or suicide. Nearly all of her tweets are negative. One tweet in particular makes me wonder if she wasn't an in-the-closet lesbian who felt unaccepted. Either way, the poor thing is in serious need of proper attention and love. Just my guess. :( Hope you find her safe & sound!

I don't know her but everyone, you don't know her. You don't know her life. Kids have crushes, leave the boy alone. The picture is of 2 girls, it isn't someone stalking her, it's her friends or something. You don't know if she's racist, it wasn't a picture of her with a scarf it was her friend, she had it on her head not to make fun but just by goofing off and she posted it for #embarassyourbestfriend. And people should really know the facts before jumping to conclusions. My friend was hit by a car and died and people were saying how she was bad and that her parents didn't discipline her. You don't know them. Don't post without the facts. My friends family had just been through a traumatic time her little brother had an accident and she was going to go to school early so she decided to walk and unfortunately didn't make it. But in conclusion, it's okay for people that don't know her to be worried, it shows humanity. Don't say she's mean, you don't actually know her. Most of you are adults, so grow the hell up and act your age. Don't make fun, mock or be mean to children. Hope that she is found okay and that is really all you can do.

Just because this girl said mean things doesn't mean she is a bad person. I have studied psychology. A lot of young girls deal with their emotions differently. I do think a lot of the things she wrote is a "lashing out" call. I have seen this type of behavior so many times in my line of work. As for the boy. He may or may not be to blame. I have also studied stalker behavior. No one knows how this boy made her feel. How do we know she wasn't being harassed by this boy? Maybe he was angry by her tweets about him, and made him hurt her? You never know what goes on. Does no one watch those TV shows about real life stalkers on the Discovery Channel and other channels? It does help you a lot if you ever find yourself in that position. Another thing, why does everyone say "Why didn't she just call 911?" Well, obviously she didn't want the intruder to hear her. People, think outside the box a little bit.
I just PRAY that this girl is playing a joke on her family because if she is really in danger...who knows what will happen. :-( God Bless her and her family.

She seems like she loves her family dearly and would never hurt them, so why would she pull a joke this big? My prayers are with her. Also, it should get you guys thinking. 1-ur calling her all of this rude stuff when u don't know her. Maybe she cuts or something idk, but you swing shit, is making you just as bad as the next person. 2-If she is dead, wouldn't u feel bad for saying all of this stuff? Like really, if you were an ass to someone at your school and then they died wouldn't you feel bad? This should get you all thinking! Be nicer to one another because YOUR words could be the cause if a death. And 3- if this could happen to her, what makes us any safer? We always do crazy shit, what if someone is watching us? Whatever happened, learn from it. You don't tweet if your in trouble unless there's NO other option. It takes less time to call 9-1-1 than to tweet a full sentence. You don't even have to talk when you call 911, u keep the phone close in case you have to scream or get a chance to make a quick whisper. They teach you this at a young age. If your on the phone with 911 and someone grabs you, u can do many things... Call out the persons name if you know them, describe them, let 911 hear a struggle if there is one, etc. when u tweet, knowledge is very limited. It took allot more keystrokes and opening twitter than to dial 9-1-1. Learn from this.

Absolutely call from a LAND LINE! You don't have to even speak, they automatically send a squad car, this is the policy of the Cranford Police. They can't trace a cell phone so easily, so always call from a land line if there is an emergency and they will show up at your door within minutes.

Most teenage girls call their friends rude names its just how we play around. The majority of teenage girls are ignorant and mean towards other people especially on twitter where no one knows who your talking about. She doesnt deserve to be kidnapped because she tweeted some very rude things. Also to the people stating that she could have just called 911 not only could she have been trying to avoid someone hearing her by the looks of it she was already on twitter. Ok, everyone most of these comments are simply not OK. you are casting judgment and disregarding the fact that this girl might be endangered. A lot of you are taking your own issues and placing it on this girl. This is not a racial issue: so the white girl shit has got to stop. The teenage angry boys who think they are funny saying rude disrepectful things about this girl, needs to stop. You are just as guilty as the girl in this regard. This is not funny. I pray for all of you. And honestly, Twitter, is a wonderful tool of social media. When gov't in another country tried to shut down the voices and internet a few months back, twitter was the only voice left. People came from all over, different nations to convene and support. And what is happening here today. Without evidence, without fact, with shoddy new reports that contradict themselves (because all media outlets want to win the race of reporting) you are instead of using you minds and caring about another human being, destroying her. It's disgusting. Shame on all of you. Do not decry this powerful tool. And even if it is a hoax, the next time you see something like this it might not be. And if it was you, you would want people to respond with respect and diginity. And to freakin look for you, right? right. so shut up already and spread the word man.

I hope this is fake, for her sake, and if it is, she is going to be one of the most hated people on the planet. Crying wolf like this will only make people skeptical if they see someyhig like this again, and if it is real then, whoever is missing at the time will have less support and attention that they NEED. Plus, she definitely doesn't post the kind of things that will lead to positive attention.
All said, whether it was a joke or not, I hope she gets home safe. I can't imagine being her parents right now.

That photo is a fake. The tweet number would have gone up if it was real. Not only that but that number has been the same the entire time. It hasn't gone up or down at all. It makes me a little sick that this girl could possibly be missing and people have the nerve to argue about it. Pray or do whatever. What the police should be doing is questioning that Samuel Guskind guy who she tweeted about a few days ago. If he's nowhere to be found then it's suspicious that he could be involved or with Kara. Idk who she is but she has been trending on Twitter and Instagram since this happened. I pray that the Lord protects her and the police find her ALIVE and bring her home. i don't even know this girl, just saw a post on facebook but some people posting on here are ridiculous. shes a normal teenager with normal teenage thoughts, anyone posting with kids growing up in this era clearly doesn't know them too well if they think her tweets are so far out of the ordinary. most of her tweets are clearly directed at people because they have offended her. and honestly people need to realize that when someone says gay that it usually isn't to offend homosexuals, it's just a loosely used term nowadays. and fuck no ones perfect or the nicest human being ever. seriously take a look at urseleves before you judge

I understand that people get kidnapped everyday but it was the fact that she tweeted before she went missing. People find that weird, scary, and maybe even interesting. Why does every situation automatically turn into a race war? We finally got a black president, clearly our society doesn't have the racist antics as we did tens of years ago. Her being white has nothing to do with why this blew up. I just found out about this via twitter, and with more and more young people using twitter, her friends were able to make this a "world wide trending topic". If a black or Latino girl was kidnapped and had a lot of friends on Twitter who were worried about her, the exact same thing would happen. So, let's end the absurd talk about race and focus on what is happening, a girl is missing and it's devestating.

I do not know this girl, i seen status's about her and got curious. I rounded up a couple of friends and we searched the area pretty thouroughly. We searched through the woods near her house about a 1/4 mile in. We searched the skatepark, local bathrooms, rivers and ponds in the middle of different woods. We did not find any tracks or fresh footprints because of the rain. Best of luck to her family, and we hope she returns home safely.

Instead of making your assumptions, ridiculing, pointing fingers, or trying to be investigators why don't you give your condolences to her family, and say a little prayer. She, nor her family, or any people you guys are trying to pin point out deserve this. Also, if you don't have anything nice to say then in this situation you probably shouldn't say anything at all. Kara, I pray for your safe return and your family and friends are in my prayers.

Perhaps she was on twitter when the house was broken into, she typed what she could, and then hid or faced the intruder. Look how often she tweets, it was probably just easier to tweet it but why would anyone assume she just ran away? Not many kids are willing to smash their phones, and run out the back door for some attention. People get kidnapped often. This is a real situation until further informed. Imagine this was your child or friend and they were missing for 8-9 hours now.....have some respect. We would be lucky to find out it was a prank and know she's ok but "pranks" Sony usually lAst this long with kids.

To those who say burglaries mostly happen at night- what is wrong with you? Why about the two men who snuck into the familys home and murdered the wife and two kids while the husband was tied in the basement. During the morning. People are sick. Who cares what her tweets sound like as a person. She is a 16 yer old child. Someone's child. You need to assume she IS missing and something happened. Maybe it's a joke and she is too scared now to come home. She's a child. And they don't think thoroughly with things like this. But until we know what happened, you need to assume she was telling the truth. And the twitter account is obviously being monitored at this point. If she was changin it or if changes were made, the police would be tracking it

Does it have to be that it's an abduction before it cna be an Amber Alert?
However, the U.S. Department of Justice issues the following "guidance", which most states are said to "adhere closely to" (in the U.S.):[11]
1.Law enforcement must confirm that an abduction has taken place.
2.The child must be at risk of serious injury or death.
3.There must be sufficient descriptive information of child, captor, or captor's vehicle to issue an alert.
4.The child must be 17 years old or younger.[

First of all, I'd like to point out that the police have never, ever been wrong before. They always know exactly what happened, and therefore, we should stop looking for this girl to make sure she's safe and continue the lynch mobs that have formed online calling for her to be killed and kidnapped, beaten, "taught a lesson", etc.
I mean, threatening a troubled girl (which you would have to be to fake something like this) always has great outcomes and never leads to suicide or self harm.

Maybe she had a reason to run away, ever think of that? Maybe Kara had issues at home, or maybe hated herself and needed to find herself. I have done it before but came back. I want to do it again to go places, but I won't. But remember, she could still be in danger. As a girl of her age, I know that if I could, if someone online claimed they loved me after talking to them for a long time, I would go meet them. Maybe a main cared so much for her, she went to meet him and he is just a sex creep!!!!! Honestly, all of you rude ass mother fuckers need to do a personality check and check your ego at the door. I seriously think some of you people underestimate how teenagers these days connect and associate with each other. Being a 16 year old girl myself we call our best friends the harshest of names and laugh it off, I understand that some of her tweets come off as too far but really is that the reason to judge someone when they may possibly be in grave danger? Even if it is a hoax, police have to treat it like a real case because someone's life could be at risk. To people saying that just because she is "a pretty white girl" and that's the only reason it got all this media coverage, I don't think you realise the huge impact social networking has in this generation. Twitter is one of the most used websites of social online interaction therefore it is only expected that this story has had worldwide attention as I've heard about this story all the way from Australia. Honestly to the 'adults' on here grow up. This is someone's daughter, relative and friend. Show some sensitivity and decency. Sorry for the essay.

They couldn't see it coming? Not even 1 person? She is scared to return if she wants to because she knows what she did was wrong and is embarrassed for what she did. Also facing jail time is not something to look forward to either. She created a federal offense. Not just Clark anymore (even though they gave up) it's F.B.I. time. She is going to jail.
