Atlantic City, Casinos Reopened to the Public

The order was passed down by Gov. Christie Friday morning.

As of 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, Atlantic City is back in business.

Gov. Chris Christie announced travel restrictions into the city were lifted and the casinos were reopened as of 10 a.m.

Division of Gaming Enforcement investigators and personnel have been assigned to each property to ensure compliance with internal control issues and to complete a final authorization to commence operations, according to the Governor's Office.

Division Director David Rebuck said a complete analysis of casino properties has been completed, according to Christie. This includes the casino floors, its equipment, surveillance, security and gaming related computer systems, Christie said.

“I have extreme confidence in Division of Gaming Enforcement staff as they begin the re-opening process of gaming operations in Atlantic City,” Christie said.

“This has been an extremely difficult time for the City of Atlantic City and the State of New Jersey," Rebuck said. “The cooperation of Governor Christie, state and local officials and the casino executives has been outstanding and we commend all those who have responded and worked with our staff throughout the events of Hurricane Sandy.

“Maintaining the integrity of casino operations is paramount. We will continue ongoing dialogue with the properties to ensure a smooth and cohesive re-opening as quickly as possible."

Atlantic City was shut down along with four other barrier islands as of Sunday, 4 p.m., in preparation for Sandy, which hit Atlantic City directly Monday night.

Brigantine, Longport and Margate reopened Thursday afternoon, leaving Ventnor as the only island that is still not accessible as of Friday morning.

I think right now if we could use a little break from the devistation, we should be able to without any controversey. Ok, maybe people will loose money, or win money to help build back what we lost. Don't forget, any money lost will also help revenue in our state. We have nothing left. We have no more resorts or attractions to help our revenue. So i say Katie $10 for me on red00.

Casinos have their own generators for times like this.
If you use natural gas or propane, you too could have electric for times like this.
Home Depot sells 17k standby generators that run off propane or natural gas for about $6000. Turns on automatically as needed. Use Project Loan and payments are about $90 a month for 60 months. Well worth it for peace of mind.

Don't forget that "we did lose everything" and are very grateful to those who have traveled to NJ to help. We also need build back our economy as we can get people back to work and help build up revenue. We, at the jersey shore have lost our resort towns where familys came and many business owners in those towns did make a hugh difference in our economy, have lost everything. Maybe it sounds to you like it's political, but i could assure you that our Govenor could care less about elections right now as we are in a state of shock. But we do need to return to some normalicy for are people and our state.

Many of you seem to forget the casinos provide a lot of jobs to people who desperately need them right now, including companies who supply them various goods and services.
